What is Schutzhund (IGP)
What Is Schutzhund / IGP?
Schutzhund, now often called IGP, is a demanding three-phase dog sport that tests tracking ability, obedience, control, confidence and courage. RVSC helps handlers understand the sport in a practical, responsible way.
Tracking Phase
The dog follows human scent with focus and accuracy, showing concentration, patience and a willingness to solve the track.
Obedience Phase
The handler and dog demonstrate heeling, positions, recalls, retrieves, steadiness and control under trial pressure.
Protection Phase
The dog shows confidence, courage and grip quality while remaining obedient and under the handler’s control.
What Makes RVSC Different
Schutzhund is not a shortcut and it is not casual backyard bite work. It is a sport that rewards patience, consistency, clear handling, correct foundations and respect for the dog in front of you.
